Looking back

2 separate posts on Twitter mentioned Blogspot and a flood of memories came over and I was swept in a wave of emotions. Oh the times I've spent on this blog and of my friends'.

How we would express ourselves in long posts, bearing our heart and soul in more than 200 characters. In some posts, there weren't even any pictures!

I haven't written much in a while. This pen has gotten blunt and rusty. But it's this same pen that has helped me through a lot. So I shall keep it.

Looking back, it's not all bad. :)

Anywhere but here.

It's tough. And it'll only get tougher. Wish I could be...

Geddit

Empathy is hard. How do you know how another person feels? Towards something, someone or someplace.

Everyone wants to feel that they're understood. That people get them. That they know why it is they do something. Especially when it's something uncommon, a bit off, peculiar, out of the ordinary.

It's frustrating when people don't.

Especially when it's the people around you.

Of course when one points a finger at someone, 4 other fingers point back at you. And I am not immune to this. In fact, a culprit, most of the time.

I am generally oblivious. Selfish.

So maybe this is karma.

I just want people to geddit.

Blast from the past

I've no idea what had gotten into me. But I decided to check out ye 'olde blog. Scrolling to the posts I can't help but remember the music I listened to back then, the feelings I felt while I was writing, my state of mind at the time. Granted, some posts are just cringe-worthy and you kinda wish you didn't write it. lol

I guess that was the whole purpose of having a blog. To go back one day and think about what you've done, how you felt, where you were and where you are now, how much have you changed, have you made a difference..?

Big questions, difficult answers. How does one measure these kind of things? The traditional way would be the typical checkbox: married, kids, house, job? Shouldn't the better form of measurement be how you feel instead? Happy, content, grateful, excited, challenged..?

Then again, why do we have the need to "measure" anyway? To compare with someone else? To compare with your former self?

Why am I suddenly being philosophical is beyond me. Especially when I had just spent 3 hours playing dota. lol

Maybe I'll revisit here every now and then. Putting the proverbial pen to paper is nice sometimes.

not for me

you'd think that a house is a home.
and a home would be where the heart lies.
where the heart yearns to be.

not for me.

Music for the Soul

They say a picture is worth a thousand words.

But I think music - with or without lyrics - is worth a thousand pictures.

Right now, there's this song that says so much about me, more than I can ever say about myself. Telling my story as if it were his own.

An Awful Thing To Lose

It's been a while.

A really, really, loooong while since I last updated my blog.

the fingers feel awkward to type the contents of the heart and mind after so long.

but a recent event ( =P ) has forced made me look back at this ol' neglected blog.

and, truth be told, I'm glad I did.

memories are an awful thing to lose

memories, and relationships. XD

True words of wisdom

In light of recent events, let's take a break from politics and reflect on ourselves.

Here's a list of sunnah by the Prophet Muhammad pbuh. Highlighted are my favs.

Read them, understand them and hopefully, practice them. =D

1.

Give the laborer his wage before his perspiration be dry

2.

Do not envy one another; do not inflate prices one to another; do not turn away from one another; and do not undercut one another, but be you, oh servants of Allah, brothers.

3.

It is better to sit alone than in company with the bad; and it is, better still to sit with the good than alone. It is better to speak to a seeker of knowledge than to remain silent; but silence is better than idle words.

4.

When you see a person who has been given more than you in money and beauty, look to those, who have been given less.

5.

Much silence and a good disposition, there are no two things better than these.

6.

The best of the houses is the house where an orphan gets love and kindness.

7.

To overcome evil with good is good, to resist evil by evil is evil.

8.

He is not of us who is not affectionate to the little ones, and does not respect the old; and he is not of us, who does not order which is lawful, and prohibits that which is unlawful.

9.

A Muslim who plants a tree or sows a field, from which man, birds and animals can eat, is committing an act of charity.

10.

The most excellent Jihad is that for the conquest of self.

11.

Say what is true, although it may be bitter and displeasing to people.

12.

Verily, a man teaching his child manners is better than giving one bushel of grain in alms.

13.

Who are the learned? Those who practice what they know.

14.

Allah does not look at your appearance or your possessions; but He looks at your heart and your deeds.

15.

When two persons are together, two of them must not whisper to each other, without letting the third hear; because it would hurt him.

16.

Verily, it is one of the respects to Allah to honor an old man.

17.

All Muslims are like a foundation, each strengthening the other; in such a way they do support each other.

18.

He, who wishes to enter paradise at the best gate, must please his father and mother.

19.

I am leaving two things among you, and if you cling to them firmly you will never go astray; one is the Book of Allah and the other is my way of life.

20.

Allah is One and likes Unity.

21.

The best of alms is that, which the right hand gives and the left hand knows not of.

22.

The perfect Muslim is not a perfect Muslim, who eats till he is full and leaves his neighbors hungry.

23._

Do you know what is better than charity and fasting and prayer? It is keeping peace and good relations between people, as quarrels and bad feelings destroy mankind.

9gag

9gag.

We all know 9gag is THE best place to tickle your funny bone. Who knew simple pictures could make you laugh out loud or provoke your thoughts or stimulate your senses and so on?

But you can also learn a lot from 9gag. Not necessarily the latest memes or the sexist jokes. You can hear/read inspiring true stories that will just leave you awe-inspired.

Apart from the obviously funny pictures, I LOVE to read the comments below. Cuz people of all races, backgrounds and cultures comment on every single post! It's a freaking melting pot!

Check out the 9gag posts below!

the comments. and I have to say I agree with this guy. He's got a good point. Having no intellectual thoughts about one's religion is simply following blindly, and is therefore, quite meaningless. But that's my opinion. We all have our own, and we are entitled to it.
